DIY Paint Instructions

First you are going to paint all the pieces. Using the yellow side of the sponge, paint all of the pieces. Be sure to go light on the paint when painting the letters...two thin coats is better than one thick one. Mix colors if needed. I only paint the tops of the laser cut pieces, not the sides.

If you are making a doorhanger, paint the backer board. For a solid round doorhanger, you can easily paint with the sponges. If you have a shiplap round, use the brush to add paint to the inset lines. If you want a distressed look, go light on the paint and let the bare wood show through. If not, fully coat the board with paint.

Now it's time to add any distressing if you want. Using the green part of the sponge, dip it in the paint color of choice and blot most of it off so just a tiny bit remains. Swipe it over any of the pieces you want to distress ....just have fun with it...don't over think it.

If you want t0 create a “stained” look, apply the paint with a baby wipe or wet paper towel. Dip it in the paint, blot most of it off and lightly wipe over the wood to create the look you want. I mostly use brown for this, but you could use any color.

When it's all dry, you are ready to glue all your pieces on. I just dip my finger into the glue and put glue dots on the backs of the pieces. Remember, it dries the glue color not clear, so wipe off any excess.
